Our Approach

Our treatment approach at Kids Connect therapy is neuro-affirmative, trauma informed and gender diversity affirmative”. Our assessment and intervention is influenced by the Developmental Individual Relationship based DIR®/Floortime™ Model.

This model is a framework of development that helps families and therapists design comprehensive therapy programs tailored to meet the specific challenges and strengths of each child. Through understanding your child’s unique preferences and individual differences, the model aims to help families and therapists create strong, natural foundations for all learning. The model outlines that interaction is the key to children’s learning. Strong interactions occur when children’s natural emotions, individual preferences, interests and relationships are acknowledged and used within intervention.

At Kids Connect our staff are trained in a range of evidence based therapeutic programs that are utilised by therapists in their work with children and families. These programs are extensive and continuing professional development occurs continually throughout the year.

Programs are selected according to clients’ individual profiles. If you have any further questions about these specific programs and the suitability for your child, please discuss this with your individual therapist or our friendly admin staff.

Our clinical practise is influenced by the work of Stuart Shanker, Mona DelaHooke, Kelly Mahler and Ross Greene.
